SACAP (The South African College of Applied Psychology) is South Africa’s leading independent provider of education in psychology, counselling and coaching, offering a wide range of accredited qualifications at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Established over 15 years ago, SACAP’s programmes are acknowledged for their unique blend of robust theory and practical applied skills and the intimate and interactive learning environment.
SACAP brings a unique psychological lens to coaching as an applied psychology as we believe that in order to work effectively with others, one needs to understand and apply psychological principles within the scope of practice as a coach.
SACAP offers the following coaching courses. All programmes are International Coach Federation (ICF) and COMENSA accredited and emphasise academic rigor, practical skill application and personal mastery:
Postgraduate Diploma in Coaching
SACAP’s Postgraduate Diploma in Coaching is a comprehensive 24 month, part-time, qualification designed for working professionals. The qualification balances academic rigor with practical applications of learning. Students are exposed to a variety of coaching models and are supported to discover their own signature coaching approach.
The Postgraduate Diploma in Coaching offers a solid theoretical grounding and a deep understanding by means of current coaching thinking, practice, ethics and research. It also includes a strong practical component that culminates in a supervised workplace Client Coaching Internship within a variety of settings.
Coach Practitioner Programme
SACAP’s Coach Practitioner Programme is a part-time, five month, short learning programme designed for working professionals. It will provide you with the foundation in professional coaching and equip you with both theory and practical skills to either become a coach practitioner or incorporate fundamental coaching competencies into intentional coaching conversations and everyday interactions.
In addition to being trained in the coaching competencies set by the International Coach Federation (ICF), you will receive also customised feedback about your demonstrated coaching skills and engage in the development thereof with International Coach Federation (ICF) credentialed mentor coaches.
Advanced Coach Practitioner Programme
SACAP’s Advanced Coach Practitioner Programme builds on SACAP’s Coach Practitioner Programme and takes coaches to the next level in deepening your coaching development.
This part-time six month short learning programme is designed for working professionals and like all our coaching programmes, has a strong practical component. It includes exploring and applying coaching models to assist you on the path to refining your coaching approach. This also allows for further development of your coaching competencies. You will receive customised feedback about your demonstrated coaching skills from International Coach Federation (ICF) credentialed mentor coaches and the programme includes a coaching competency performance exam.
The Post Graduate Diploma is an NQF level 8 qualification and is accredited by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) as an Accredited Coach Training Programme (ACTP) of 235 hours.
The Coach Practitioner Programme is accredited by ICF as an Approved Coach-Specific Training Hours (ACSTH) programme of 120 hours.
