Human beings are by nature social beings who operate in various group dynamics. At home with your family, at work with your colleagues, or socialising with your friends. In all these settings we encounter various challenges. My goal will be to be your personal guide as you navigate these challenges. Think about climbing a mountain – so much easier if you sometimes have a guide to point out the slippery slopes, the rough terrain, to encourage and help you when you are struggling.
I prefer the term Life Guide or Personal Guide to coach as I tend to think of a coach as someone with a whistle who gives orders! I will walk along-side you in whatever challenge you are facing and together we will find the best solution for you. We will walk your personal path to your own freedom!
I have over 20 years’ experience studying and researching the human mind and human behaviour. After a successful career in mental health research (specialising in addiction) spanning over 15 years, I made the decision to refocus my career by sharing my extensive life experience and in-depth grasp of human behaviour through offering Life and Personal Coaching to individuals and small groups.
I have a Masters degree in psychology from Stellenbosch University and a Doctorate in Psychiatry & Mental Health from the University of Cape Town. I am a registered practitioner with the Coaches and Mentors of South Africa Association (COMENSA).
A prominent contemporary psychiatrist, William Glasser (1925-2013), believed that finding personal freedom is a key challenge for all of us. Finding freedom means being able to let go of the past, living in the present, and believing you have power over your own thoughts, emotions and behaviour. This is not always an easy journey – sometimes far from it! But through a journey of self-understanding and reflecting on how we interact with those around us, and how this influences us, it is possible to begin a path where you will experience growth in personal freedom.
Our focus is on individual life guidance to assist you with understanding yourself better, how thought processes work, and how you relate to your environment and those around you. I will assist you in finding your own special path to your freedom, facing your daily challenges in a way that will benefit you and those around you the most.
Whether you are trying to find your path (in career or in life), or you feel ‘lost’ and are trying to find the right path again we are here to assist you. Perhaps you have suffered a setback in life, in your relationships, your career or your health – we will help you find your path again through a process of self-analysis and introspection and a positive and practical approach to taking small steps forward toward your path to finding your freedom again.
I have extensive experience in working with adolescent issues and a passion for working with children of all ages. Therefore if you are looking for guidance for your child or teenager, whether it be for emotional, career or other issues (including substance abuse and mental health problems), your child will receive excellent guidance and care to help them find their way in life.
I have a personal passion for assisting small and medium sized business to analyse their strengths and weaknesses (SWOT analysis – strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats). With my extensive experience human psychology and in research, analysis and critical thinking I will help you with an analysis of your business, to help with how you can brainstorm to improve your services/products, your interaction with customers, your interaction with staff and problem resolution.
Individual consultations are charged at R750 per hour. It is envisaged that a minimum of six months of working together will be required to allow me to help you on your journey to finding your freedom.
