Living in the 21st Century the pressure and demands are huge on children and parents alike. The pressure to perform, succeed, be popular, keep up with the Joan’s, to be busy, to be on top of all advances in technology, to be PERFECT…. the list goes on.

Life is moving at such a fast pace and this is highlighting how children are developing unevenly on some levels as compared to other aspects of them. As parents we desperately want to do what is right for our kids, yet society and the world around us has made us doubt ourselves and our abilities as parents…We’ve lost touch with our inner knowledge and so we look outside. Hence we are seeing an increase in the number of children being referred for medical or therapeutic interventions. Which, don’t get me wrong, absolutely have their place?

Being a mom of 2 amazing little characters and a teacher of many years I am passionate about empowering the parent and the child, which can have a life changing effect on the family. We have the knowledge within us how best to help, guide and grow our individual children; it’s just a matter of re-connecting with that knowledge. As we as parents change, so too will our children, our society and ultimately our world.

It does take work, effort and time; however, talking from experience the rewards are amazing. Life is a roller coaster with its ups and downs of that there is no doubt. Imagine being able to teach our children how to weather those ups and downs and to never lose sight of who they are and where they are going. What an incredible gift…and one I firmly believe is in each and every parent to be able to give their child. Let’s start un-wrapping those gifts.
