Joanne has been an Executive and a Life Coach and Professional Coach Supervisor since 1996. She has over 8000 client hours, including supervision and 2500 hours of coaching, supervision and psychotherapy training. Her clients are individuals, couples, teams and groups both private and corporate in a large diversity of industries.
Joanne has 11 years’ experience as a Chartered Accountant with Coopers & Lybrand in Johannesburg and London, followed by two years as a freelance accountant in London. Early on in her career Joanne discovered her talent and passion for the authentic development of people. In 1988 Joanne took part in the establishment of the mentorship programme at PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC) in Johannesburg and built on this experience and personal passion whilst on secondment with PWC in the UK.
Joanne is a leading proponent of the professionalisation of coaching and coaching supervision. She offers Coach Supervision training and on-going development for coaches, namely Pathway to Master Coach, a SAQA designation through the Institute of Management Consultants and Master Coaches (IMCSA), and a Professional Seminar series covering all aspects of the client relationship from Initial Contact to Endings.
Joanne has extensive experience as a business and leadership coach both here and in the UK. She has coached at all levels of business, including executives, management, entrepreneurs, individuals, groups and teams in a diversity of industries, including the public sector, banking and financial services, pharmaceutical, construction, media, retail and NPOs.
Joanne partnered with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) to implement their first formal mentoring programme in 2018, which she designed, developed and implemented. This programme was subsequently adopted by SAICA and continues annually, training mentors and mentees.
As a qualified Humanistic and Integrative psychotherapist since 1996, Joanne has worked with individuals, couples and groups for over 20 years on all issues relevant to leading a fulfilled life as an individual, in work, as partner, parent and friend. She specialises in career, relationship and financial well-being.
Joanne has worked with individuals, couples and groups in various contexts. She offers systemic team coaching and resilience coaching sessions. She has offered public workshops on careers and our relationship to money and now specialises in group supervision for coaches and managers wishing to develop their coaching skills as a leadership development tool.
Joanne is accredited to administer the Emotional and Social Competency Inventory, a leading emotional intelligence 360˚ test, which is regularly used as a measure of the effectiveness of coaching. In 2004 she trained with Dr Merle Friedman facilitating a personal development workshop designed to develop and enhance personal resilience in organisations.

Joanne is passionate about supporting the development of coaching as a profession, ensuring accountability of coaches and on-going professional development. She has been involved with COMENSA (Coaches and Mentors of South Africa) since its inception and has also been a member of the Supervision Portfolio Committee since 2006. She is both a Registered Supervisor and Master Practitioner and evaluator for COMENSA of Master practitioners. She is also a Master Coach and Evaluator for the Institute of Management Consultants and Master Coaches (IMCSA)
She is a strong believer in the necessity for, and value of supervision for coaches in furthering the competence, sustainability and accountability of the coaching conversation in any context.
