Perspectives

I have been practicing as a full-time leadership and executive coach since 2002. My coaching focus is the development of leadership, which is my area of expertise. It is built through years of study as well as experience in ministry. I have a doctorate in leadership and organisational structures and am currently a lead contractor in leadership development for Corporate Governance Framework (Pty) Ltd. I am also an associate of The Da Vinci Institute for Technology Management (Pty) Ltd and The Coaching Centre as well as one of the Duke Corporate Education’s network of global educators.

Other qualifications and recognitions are:

  • Certified PDA (Personal development Assessment) analyst and facilitator as well as approved facilitator for the Heartstyles 360 degree assessment.
  • Country winner in the category education and training in CEO communications’ 2015 ‘Titans Building Nations’ competition.’
  • 2017 Top 100 Global Coach award winner (World HRD Congress)
  • 2017 Best in Executive coaching SA (Acquisition International)

I have published two leadership books, The Leadership Challenge in Africa (foreword by Archbishop Desmond Tutu) and Leadership Thoughts and am a columnist for the CEO magazine. My article It’s Time To Rethink Leadership Development has been accepted for publishing in the CEO magazine, PMR, HR Future and Business Brief. I furthermore frequently deliver talks on leadership at various functions and am interviewed on radio talk shows such as Paying it Forward, Life Tips, Bold Radio and Tough Talk Radio Network. I have been chosen by Motivational Press as one of their community of leading experts, thought leaders, and industry authorities.

I strongly believe that we need to be lifelong learners in the areas of our vision, character and relationships. Growth in these areas form the foundation to our career and leadership growth. My approach in coaching is to partner with people as a facilitator of their growth, particularly as leaders in the workplace – thereby optimising potential and positive results. In doing so I integrate the various relevant contexts and perspectives.

Process

I design a coaching plan based on the needs of the client. It can include the following components:

  • An interview assessment of the client’s needs and goals
  • Interviews with four people from the client’s inner work circle for an anonymous feedback report
  • A PDA (www.pdainternational.net/en) profile report
  • A 6-week MyPDACoach email coaching programme on a selected competency
  • Registration on the futureleadersjourney platform for Principle-based leadership® development  ( 32 leadership principles in the areas of leading self, others and change)
  • Between 6 and 12 individual coaching sessions (face to face and/or online sessions)
  • Monitoring feedback sessions with the client’s work circle/sponsor
  • A written closing report of the clients development journey

Purpose

I know that we have achieved our purpose when the client at the end of the journey would report that he/she has not only grown in self-awareness and as a person, but has seen the positive results of stronger, more influential leadership. It resulted in colleagues and team members responding positively, energetically and cooperatively to his/her leadership and in facing their work challenges in general.
