Hi, my name is Evan Robinson. I have been starting businesses in the digital space since I was 16 (24 years). Apart from the many projects that didn’t make it, I have started 4 businesses which did, 3 of which I ultimately sold to new owners.
My most recent business is TaxTim – a tax chatbot for South Africans – which raised seed funding from Google, has grown consistently for 13 years, and has Momentum, Sanlam, Old Mutual, FNB, Standard Bank, Airbnb, PwC and KPMG and others as clients.
Apart from business experience, I really love technology, and have a in-depth knowledge of how to build products with different kinds of tech. I can assist with building electronic devices (30 years experience), building software/apps/games/tools/portals/e-commerce websites.
I am exceedingly passionate about entrepreneurship and Small Business in South Africa. I am excited to share my knowledge with you about what works, what doesn’t, and how to save time by focusing on what matters the most. I want to help you make your business / business idea succeed, no matter how far along you are – from initial concept stage, to fund raising, to corporate sales and shareholder agreements.
Working with me will be straight and to the point, with a high degree of honesty, authenticity and compassion for where you are and what you are trying to do. I have been there. I want you to avoid the mistakes I made, and benefit from the best tricks I learned along the way.
I currently provide tech and business mentorship to entrepreneurs and startups, both privately and through institutions such as Shanduka Black Umbrellas, Startup Circles (now Pranary), BioCiTi and Bandwidth Barn. In 2023 I completed my coach training in Design Thinking at the Hasso-Plattner D-School Africa in Cape Town.
