My personal philosophy with regards to coaching:

My approach to coaching is to enter into a partnership with clients and to embark on the transformative, thought provoking and empowering process. I use goal setting and focus on the return on the client’s investment of time and energy. My frameworks for coaching are interchangeable and are depended on the objectives of the coaching goal. Frameworks are adopted from Neuro Linguistic Programming and appreciative positive inquiry and focus on the strengths of the individual. The main purpose is to help the client abandon old patterns and habits that do not work, to adopt new creative thinking and to become the best version of themselves.

Why I coach:

I am passionate about coaching individuals to transition through changes that they wish to make in their professional and personal lives. My aim is to unleash the full potential of individuals to achieve greater results in their lives. I have decided to enter this profession because my own career progression was enabled by coaching. Coaching helped me to navigate the corporate world wearing different lenses of empowerment and self-awareness. It helped me to step into leadership roles with confidence. I have witnessed how coaching can transform the mindset and one’s perceptions of self-worth. Clients are able to discover their own geniuses and work on the development areas with an open mind to achieve their objectives. I find coaching to be very empowering and life changing experience both personally and professionally.

My coaching expertise:

Coaching represents 80% of my current working time.
I use different methods to coach depending on the objectives of the client. Some of the methods are adopted from neurosciences, inner life skills, and appreciative enquiry. In addition, I use different assessment tools such as the 360 Leadership Circle Profiling, Positive Intelligence Quotient, Enneagram to mention a few to focus the coaching process.

My professional background:

I am a motivated, passionate and results driven professional, coach and entrepreneur with more than 25 years’ experience as an Executive Director within the financial services, energy and higher education sectors. I have a wealth of diverse experience in driving change and transformation to enable organisations to attract, develop and retain talent successfully. I have a track record of achieving business goals and bringing impactful and sustainable change across all job roles I led. As the Talent/Transformation Director, I influenced strategy decision making at the exco/board level of the organisations I worked with. I also operated at a senior level working in collaboration with heads of divisions and senior executives to achieve their strategic objectives.

My work experience and achievements:

I have worked for large organisations such as Deloitte, Standard Bank, Shell SA, and Wits University. I am passionate about harnessing the greatest potential of women and men in the workplace, and hence my role of mentoring and coaching professionals, a role I enjoyed immensely for many years.

I successfully led the advancement of academics at Wits into senior roles through the accelerated development programme managed by my office. I pioneered the advancement and retention of chartered accountants at Deloitte through the talent strategy. I mentored and coached chartered accountants, some of whom are now CEO’s and Exco members. I was nominated as one of the top influential women in Deloitte on Women’s Day (2008)

I am a currently a founder and Director of Uwezekona Consulting & Advisory Services – a firm dedicated to providing organisations with ideas, products, and services that improve organisational health, teamwork, and employee engagement. I am an organisational development and change management consultant, an international executive/leadership and career coach, a partner at Change Partners Coaches (CPC), facilitator, and conflict mediator.
