The Rationale Behind Meta-Coaching

Even the most successful people can have blind-spots, unconscious incompetencies, potential sabotage patterns, self-limiting beliefs and untapped potential.  Meta-Coaching enables them to identify for themselves the things holding them back, unnecessarily consuming their time, energy and focus, and how these could be impacting on their business and personal achievements.

Once these factors have come to their awareness, through coaching these people are able to substitute old thought and behavioural processes with different and more beneficial choices for themselves. 

There are many reasons for considering coaching as an investment for senior management, key individuals, business owners, entrepreneurs and teams who need to be able to operate cohesively and effectively. These could include:

  • To enable them to move beyond existing thinking patterns and behaviours which limit their ability to perform at their very best
  • To enable them to consistently perform at heightened levels of their game, through constant questioning and challenging of perceptions, intentions and actions
  • To provide them with an external “sounding board” through which to explore business and personal challenges and ideas.  The coach, being the expert in facilitation not content, is ideally placed to play this vital role
  • To enable technically competent leaders to access within themselves and develop the soft skills so necessary for effective management of people
  • Succession planning and implementation - to develop a succession line of effective self-actualised leaders to take over key roles within the organisation at appropriate times
  • To incentivise, reward and retain key individuals, who are energised and motivated by more than financial compensation alone

 

A worldwide study (which included South Africa) conducted by Price Waterhouse Coopers LLP and Association Resource Centre Inc, on behalf of  the International Coaching Federation, released in April 2009 revealed:

  • Professional coaching offers the client an “action plan” to achieve defined outcomes.  This is in contrast to counselling and therapy, which is instead considered an opportunity to “explore their issues”
  • 99% of Clients were very or somewhat satisfied with the overall coaching experience
  • 96% indicated that they would repeat the process
  • 80% recorded positive change or higher in the context of primary objectives
  • The median company Return on Investment was calculated at 700%

 

Individual and Team Meta-Coaching Interventions

Typically MetaCo’s executive clients are already competent and successful achievers who aim to reach greater levels of accomplishment.  In the same way as sports professionals engage coaches to enable them to reach ever higher levels in their mental and physical games, executives likewise benefit from professional coaching to continuously improve their performance.

Mindskills Performance Coaching Workouts are a highly successful and cost-effective way of introducing a culture of personal development, accountability and performance excellence at all levels within the organisation.  With a variety of topics to select from, each 90 minute session is sharply-focused on Solutions, Showing and How To, instead of Problems, Telling and What.  They can be integrated quickly and easily into new or existing competency frameworks and organisational initiatives.  The company receives precisely the changes and performance it needs, with results which are both measurable and sustainable.

Qualifications and Associations

MetaCo Coaches and Associate Coaches all hold the internationally recognised Associate Certified Meta-Coach qualification, issued by the International Institute of Neuro-Semantics.  They have extensive relevant business backgrounds, are members of the International Meta-Coaching Foundation, and COMENSA, and abide by the Codes of Ethics of both organisations.
