Joanne has 15 years experience of Executive Coaching and Professional Coaching Supervision. She has over 2500 hours of coaching, supervision and psychotherapy training and has more than 3500 client hours. Her clients include Nedbank, Investec, RMB, Transnet, The HSRC, Lovelife, Eli Lilly, the UK National Health Service, the BBC and The Church of England.
Joanne has 11 years experience as a Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse in Johannesburg and London, followed by two years as a freelance CA for Eidos, Railpen and IMRO in London. Early on in her career Joanne discovered her talent and passion for the authentic development of people. 1988 Joanne took part in the establishment of the mentorship programme at PWC in Johannesburg and built on this experience and personal passion whilst on secondment with PWC in the UK.
Joanne is a leading proponent of the professionalisation of coaching and coaching supervision. Joanne is currently the Gauteng representative member of the coaching supervision committee for Comensa (Coaches and Mentors of South Africa) and is a member of the ethics committee. In these roles she has highlighted the role of the profession and supported developments in an active approach to ethics and the establishment of the first ICF (International Coach Federation) Coach Supervision Training in South Africa. She is currently co leading a Coach Supervision training at the Wits Business School.

Joanne has worked with Individuals couples and groups in various contexts. She has run team coaching and resilience training sessions. She has offered public workshops on careers and relationship to money and now specialises in group supervision for coaches and managers wishing to develop their coaching skills.
Joanne is accredited to administer the Emotional and Social Competency Inventory, the leading emotional intelligence 360˚ test, which is regularly used as a measure of the effectiveness of coaching. In 2004 she trained with Dr Merle Friedman facilitating a personal development workshop designed to develop and enhance personal resilience.
Supervision: the Heart of Training and Continuing Professional Development for Coaches and the Manager as Coach
Joanne is passionate about supporting the development of coaching as a profession, ensuring accountability of coaches and on-going professional development. She has been involved with Comensa (Coaches and Mentors of South Africa) since its inception and is currently Gauteng Chair and sits on the Supervision, Membership Criteria and Ethics committees.
Her most prominent role is as one of the leading coach supervisors in Gauteng. Her early experience of, and subsequent training in, supervision was at Spectrum Psychotherapy in London, which took place over a period of 10 years. She has recently added to this through an ICF accredited Coaching Supervision programme run by Coaching Development UK.
She is a strong believer in the necessity for, and value of supervision for coaches in furthering the competence, sustainability and accountability of the coaching conversation in any context. In fact, Joanne was instrumental in bringing Trudi Newton of Coaching Development UK to South Africa to train coaches in the only ICF accredited Coach Supervision training.
