How I coach
Leaders, just like any other human being, flourish through a healthy balance of mind, body and soul. Then they produce better outcomes and can inspire others. My clients, professional and private individuals, want to feel stronger and more in their personal power, yet relaxed and flexible to deal with their ever increasing challenges. We aim for clarity, confidence and focus. Readings, questions for self-reflection and body practices support the process in between the sessions – tailored to the client’s availability and interest.
“Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.” Rumi
How I supervise
Supervision is the buzz word in the coaching industry. It creates a safe environment for coaches to reflect on and improve their professional practice. It helps to maintain ethical standards, provides support and invites growth. It's forward moving and outcome oriented - and makes sure the coach's stuff doesn't get in the way of the client's progress. Coaches, who take their work seriously, go for supervision. Finally.
I feel passionate about raising the bar in the world wide web of coaching practitioners: What is it about the coach that impacts on the client? What makes a good coach a great coach? How can blind spots be dissolved through a combination of rigour and empathy? Trained by the ICF accredited UK Coaching Development, I supervise both independent and in-house coaches, in person and on Skype.

I have worked in communications for more than 25 years – a journey which took me from Berlin to Vienna to Cape Town. As a profile writer for an international business magazine, I interacted with leaders around the globe. In 2001 I moved to South Africa, and made my passion for people my new career. Through coaching I now assist professional and private individuals to become happier, healthier and more productive human beings. I have studied health and nutrition for many years, and bring the latest edge of neuroscience to my work. I’m a mother of four, and a regular practitioner of yoga and meditation.
As an Integral Coach© my approach draws from the Enneagram, Thinking Environment (Nancy Kline) and Leadership Embodiment (Wendy Palmer). I coach in English and in German - in person if possible, but also on Skype. I’m a Fulbright scholar and hold a PhD in communications science. I certified as an Integral Coach© (PCC) through the Centre for Coaching at the UCT Graduate School of Business. I’m credentialed with ICF at PCC level. As a coach supervisor, I have trained with the ICF accredited UK Coaching Development. After an Ashtanga yoga teacher training, I now have a self-practice of gentle Vinyasa flow.

What my clients say:
Antje has the ability of listening and relating to people from whatever background they come. Her wide experience with various cultures and her work on yoga and somatic therapy make her coaching unique. It certainly had a profound effect on me.”
Naushad Ramoly, Area Legal Counsel, British American Tobacco (BAT), Nairobi
I worked with Antje for six months to assist me not only with navigating a stormy patch in my career but also to achieve balance in my life. I was not disappointed: Antje was exactly what I needed. Her calm manner and excellent listening skills made me totally comfortable. Antje's summaries of our discussions that she e-mails promptly after our sessions kept me on track. Her way is most unassuming and gentle. Her wisdom is infinite. I'm going to miss having Antje as my sounding board. But I know I learned a lot and am now better equipped to navigate the next storm."
Dr Justin M Gavanescu, Life Kingsbury Claremont Hospital Manager
Antje has given me ‘tools’ how to deal with pressure both at work and at home, which if not pro-actively managed, can lead to resentment. I have learnt to be more in tune with myself and others through slowing down. Antje has opened my eyes to my self-worth, which has empowered me to approach challenges in a more conscious way."
Christina Costa, Product Development Manager, Woolworths, Cape Town
The program helped in providing me with simple and yet essential tools to apply daily in my interactions with people and colleagues. I have a better and deeper understanding of myself. I also understand the dynamics of my environment and those around me, and how to manage the interaction between these and focus on the bigger picture. Importantly, the value of respecting others, while I still remain authentic and speak my truth."
Fiona Gumede, General Manager – Legal and Company Secretariat, Engen, Cape Town
