Simone successfully coached and mentored leaders, executives and senior managers while working in the private and public sectors as an executive. She has a wealth of experience in all areas of management. Her particular strengths are in the role of executive general manager, positions she held, amongst others, at Shell South Africa, the National Treasury, City of Joburg, Regent Insurance and Mutual & Federal. She has successfully coached in businesses as well.
As a woman with many successful years’ experience in operating at executive management level, she has a deep understanding of and empathy for the challenges women and men face in the workplace. Her vast experiences in the public sector, private sector (especially the financial sector), the para-statal environment, together with her successful development and management of people in the context of South Africa’s history, provides her with a unique insight into coaching that is relevant for South Africa now.
She is currently coaching in the corporate, para-statal and government sectors; and is a mentor/business advisor at Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS).
While working in the private sector, Simone successfully led and managed teams of people in locations across Southern Africa and coached them to excellence in their respective fields and areas of responsibilities. In government, she was responsible for the six unqualified audits at the National Treasury, she sat on the Audit Committees of several government departments and on regulatory bodies where she added much value.
She has excellent project management skills and has successfully implemented large projects in the public and private sectors on time and within budget. One such successful project was where she implemented enhanced business processes through technology in the private sector. Simone played a pivotal role in establishing the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) and the National Treasury. She recently successfully established an international tax organisation, the African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF), with 36 member countries across the African continent.
EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION / ASSOCIATION
She holds a Bachelor degree from the University of Cape Town (majoring in African studies and maths) and several post graduate qualifications and certifications including business and management executive management courses from the University of Cape Town Business School, Stellenbosch University, WITS Business School, University of Birmingham, University of Singapore and Harvard Business School.
She also has a coaching qualification from the Results Coaching Systems, an internationally accredited institution and affiliated to the International Coaching Federation (ICF). She is a member of COMENSA through Change Partners.
