Dr Benita Battiss
As a personal coach with both a psychotherapeutic and business background, Benita assists her clients in overcoming a vast array of personal and work related challenges.
Personal Life Coaching
From a personal life coach perspective Benita assists individuals in overcoming personal obstacles whether it relates to relationships, grief, anxiety, depression or other life challenges. Moreover, she assists clients in identifying and achieving short and long-term life/personal goals.
On a spiritual level, coaching is offered with regard to mindfulness training, meditation, dream-analysis and transpersonal hypnosis.
Business Coaching
Benita has been self-employed since 1998 and understands the challenges of establishing and growing small businesses. From a business coaching perspective she offers assistance with establishing business goals, motivation of business proprietors, time-management and revision of existing business policies and marketing strategies.
Additionally, Benita mentors to other professionals within various fields.
Academic background
Benita completed a BA degree in Personnel Management from the Rand Afrikaans University (RAU) in 1994. She then completed an Honours degree in Psychology and Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology (Cum Laude). While practicing as a psychologist in Alberton she completed a Doctorate in Psychology with specialisation in the hypnotherapeutic treatment of adults that were sexually abused as children.
In addition to her tertiary education, Benita completed a course in Neuropsychology with Dr Roy Sugarman as well as the following courses presented by the South African Society of Clinical Hypnosis:
- Medical Hypnoanalysis
- Ego State Therapy
- Traditional Clinical Hypnosis
- Transpersonal approaches to therapy
- Hypnosis and sex therapy
In 2002 Benita qualified as a Reiki Master.
Business Background
In 1997 Benita completed her psychology internship at the Institute for Child and Adult Guidance at RAU. Since 1998 she practiced in her own capacity as a psychologist in private practice in Alberton until 2007 when she moved to Namibia.
Benita has been a property investor since 2000. She currently invests in residential, commercial and industrial properties in Namibia and Johannesburg.
In addition to the coaching practice and property investments, Benita is the founder of a bookshop in Swakopmund: The Chalcedony Books.

She is similarly the founder of Namibian Imports and Trading CC.
