My vision is

To help people come alive to their potential so that they live full and productive lives and become an inspiration to those around them.

The productivity of a machine is largely dependent on whether the on button has been engaged, it’s not quite as simple with humans. Our lives are holistic and seldom 100% compartmentalized. As humans, unconscious value systems run our lives, make our choices, and cause the unfolding of repetitive patterns.

Productivity is impacted by personal stresses, inadequate life skills (time management, communication, decision making, prioritizing, change management) never mind the afore mentioned values, beliefs and unconscious motivations. It’s just not as simple as key performance indicators, Reward systems or even punitive systems.

Life Coaching can benefit members of your staff to overcome self limiting beliefs and behaviours in a sustainable way. A confident, balanced person is a hopeful and happy person who can take initiative and is present and focused.

Process

I coach individuals and small groups or facilitate interactive workshops with groups. I design the programme according to the clients need. I am experienced in facilitating life skills with unskilled labour or coaching at a management level to improve productivity.

Post-matric I moved to Pietermaritzburg to study nursing (General, Community, Psychology and Midwifery) at Greys hospital. I then travelled for a couple of years before returning to ICU nursing for 4 years. Some more travel and I then spent 6 years with an NGO assisting out of school youth with Life Skills, Careers and Business Development. During this time I became a qualified facilitator and assessor. The next step in the pursuit of my passion was to become a life coach, so I studied through New Insights Africa before setting up my own coaching practice mid 2010.

I enjoy spending time outdoors and travelling. Canoeing and mountain biking provide immense satisfaction but even more, have taught me so much about overcoming all of those internal opponents like fear and discomfort. I have been to the summit of Kilimanjaro and trekked up to Everest Base Camp, completed a number of ultra canoe marathons and other extreme events. All of these have taught me invaluable life lessons.

My passion has always been that each person is unique and if only we had the courage to live that uniqueness this world would be a better place.

During my time as the General Manager of the Duzi-Umngeni Conservation Trust (DUCT), Fiona MacCrimmon from 7 Summits provided DUCT staff with life skills training. The courses she guided them through proved critical in motivating the DUCT staff to work not only for the greater good of the company but also for themselves. One of her greatest attributes was quickly becoming familiar with what DUCT’s mission and objectives, and then communicating this effectively during her teaching sessions. This resulted in all employees having a much better understanding of what the company did and why they did it. Fiona was able to use her exceptional communication skills to draw feedback out of the DUCT staff that was very useful when planning future exercises.

The reaction from the DUCT staff was extremely positive, they realised that DUCT had an interest in improving their livelihoods and the way they managed their own lives. The knock-on effects of this were a highly motivated staff of over 100 individuals working in 9 separate teams, but all with the same focus and goals in mind.
